16 May 2022

1 - Walk out of Link Portside Apartments front doors and find yourself at Portside Wharf, a shopping, entertainment and dining mecca all in the same precinct. You can check out the fashion stores, dine at fabulous cafes and restaurants, enjoy a drink at one of the bars, sip a coffee and watch the Brisbane River, catch the latest movie at Dendy Cinemas, shop for groceries at the IGA supermarket, enjoy a workout or get a beauty treatment! Visit Portside Wharf for more information.

2 – Within a 5 minute drive or Uber ride are Eagle Farm and Doomben Racecourses. Enjoy a flutter on the horses or just go along and soak in the atmosphere. Doomben is the newer of the two with Eagle Farm Racecourse dating back to 1865. Its claim to fame is that its racing roots are in the early settlements with the first settlers heading to the track to enjoy a punt on the horses. It’s worth experiencing it just to see the heritage Victorian and Federation buildings that have been restored to their former glory. To find out what’s on at either of the racecourses visit Brisbane Racing Club.

3 - Visit the iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel with a rich history dating back to 1889, for a delicious meal where you can choose to eat in the Beer Garden, Spanish Garden Steakhouse or the Creek Café. Breakfast Creek Hotel is located at 2 Kingsford Smith Drive, Albion.

4 – Have you ever wanted to try barefoot lawn bowls? Gather some mates, slip your shoes off and feel the grass under your feet at Gallopers Sports Club. Afterwards, enjoy a brew and a classic pub meal from their bistro and bar. Find them at 304 Lancaster Road Ascot – just a short 5 min drive or 15 minute walk from Link Portside.

5 – If you're visiting on the weekend, be sure to visit Eat Street Northshore! Located down near the Brisbane River at 221D Macarthur Avenue, you’ll enter a world of amazing street food vendors that are set up in converted shipping containers on a disused wharf. You’ll find everything from Poke bowls, Peruvian paellas and Argentinian ribs, through to churros, American floats and mega donut ice-cream cones. It’s open every Friday and Saturday from 4-10pm and Sundays from 4-9pm. Entry costs $5.

6 – If you love to bag a bargain don’t skip a visit to DFO Brisbane. If you are not up with shopping lingo, DFO stands for Direct Factory Outlet. This mega centre located in the Skygate precinct near the Brisbane Airport is home to a mind-boggling mix of outlet stores selling everything from Australia’s favourite brands through to International designer labels at up to 70% off retail prices. You’ll be sure to find something you love.

Of course, you could just spend 48 hours relaxing in your Link Portside Wharf apartment!
